You are probably wondering "where have all the Micro dates gone??"  I know your probably itching for some ideas.  Well the truth is, for the past two weeks I haven't done a single Micro date.  Why?  Because for the past two weeks Danny and I have gone on two real live dates-aka-out of the home with babysitters lined up.  It was wonderful, I have to admit.  It was time for a change of pace-if I had to do a Micro date every week, well I'd be fried and served on a platter-or something like that.  Micro dates are fun, but there is a great need to get out of the house-before 9pm-and enjoy some fresh air.  So this is what we did: Date 1 Checked out the Arts Quest Center at Bethlehem Steel Stacks: Date 2 Went to Thai Thai-a Thai restauant-duh.  Yummy food!  Also bought some new running sneakers and bought some ice cream. Table for two please! The real deal, yummy!! Hey There!  Well, we missed a Micro date last week, but  we made up for it with TWO dates this week- both involving food.  With all this crazy planning and preparing for eclectic dates I was feeling a bit burnt out-so we did something easy this week.  Simply put, we held off on supper till after the kids went to sleep and Danny arrived from school.  Yes I whipped up a delectable and healthy meal for two.  A concoction I created (Cut up chicken, garlic, a table spoon of dry salsa mix,  cannelini beans, diced tomatoes, asparagus, chopped peppers and mushrooms)  I don't mean to brag or anything but it was delicious!!  The perfect relaxing setting to chat away and catch up.  It just goes to show that you don't need extravagant themes and games to make a date special.  Simple can be refreshing and enjoyable too.  I could literally eat this eveyday-wonderfully de...

Hanna and Harry Heart are a legend in the town of Amorville. They both grew up there and turned into the town's most popular and enviable high school sweethearts as the All-Star Cheerleader & State Champion Quarterback! They wed soon after high school and today, Hanna's a beautiful NFL cheerleader and Harry's a talented Quarterback for the St. Louis Lambs! The Hearts travel to Amorville often to see their family and friends and have made it a tradition to host a Valentine's Day soiree in Amorville. This year, they hosted their party at the wonderful Sollar's home- in the heart of downtown Amorville. Our themed date this week "How Sweet it is to be loved by you" What a delicious time we had. How to have a "sweet" date. 1) See that funny looking black piece of paper with red stripes on it? Well that was our tic tac toe board. And we didn't play just any kind of tic tac toe. We played with chocolate truffles milk chocolate and dark. Danny was blue and I was brown-because brown is dark chocolate and that is my absolute favorite!! 2) Sip on some hot cocoa. Side note: hot cocoa is even more delectable with chocolate truffles in them. 3) Play Candyland. But make up your own cards. For example we each got eight cards- four were good things that would allow you to move forward in the game ex: you gave your hubby a back scratch move ahead three spaces OR you washed the dishes for your wife, move ahead five spaces. And four were bad ex: You tracked mud in the house or you served a burnt supper. You get the idea. It was a very telling and funny game. 4) Do...

Our first activity on our "Roaring 20's" date night was a pea eating contest.  I know it sounds silly, but really the twenties was full of crazy contests, dancing, pea eating, standing on poles at the top of buildings for many days and much more.  Contests, marathons and any weird challenges were ever so popular. It's funny because in highschool and college, tests and history was sort of boring to me.  However now that I am older I seem to be soaking this kind of stuff up.  I read an easy book on the Roaring Twenties callled "Life During the Roaring Twenties" By Dian Yancey.  It's a "The Way People Live" Series for what I am assuming junior high students.  Anyways I decided it would be fun to create some trivia from all that I learned.     Last night Danny arrived home to see a prettified table with some delectable treats.  Ole!  It was time for a Mexican Night.  There is nothing like munching on tortilla cips, salsa, and guacomole.  Of course we needed something to sip on, so naturally I made pina coladas, with whipped cream and a cherry. Let the Games Begin! I looked up some "Mexican" games online and found a drinking game.  Side Note: We don't consume alcohol, and yes our pina coladas were virgin.  Despite the fact we don't drink I thought it might be fun to learn this game.  It involved two dice, sipping drinks and keeping score.    After one round we were ready for something different Enter: Mexican Train!  It's an addictive Dominoes game that we adore and play often.       Yesterday Danny arrived with bags of food in his arms.  I had already begun fixing dinner, a mexican dish, consisting of dirty rice, beans, tomatoes, olives, chicken and taco seasoning.  It was sizzling in the pan, and letting off a warm spicy aroma. This is easy and yummy to make, especially when you buy the boxed dirty rice "Oh your making dinner already.  Well that's alright, we can just add that to the meal I'm making for us."  He shlopped the bags down onto the table.  "Oh? What meal are you making?"  I leaned over his shoulder trying to catch a peak. Danny  pulled the items of food from the filmy plastic bags.  Lobster tails, giant fresh scallops, shrimp and clams were placed on the kitchen table.              Well Danny and I had a splendid micro date last night.  In going with the theme of an Asian style date, I collected and bought -conversation hearts - chopsticks -egg rolls -woktok messages. No, not the card game, but rather a race: to collect as many hearts in our individual bowls.  How did we collect our conversation hearts?  Not with our hands silly, with our chopsticks.  (Thank you MOPS for the great idea!)  Whom ever has the most hearts in their bowl by the time the pile of candy is depleted is the winner.  And Danny was the winner-he's always the winner isn't he?  I seriously have a hard time holding chopsticks.       Next...

     Thursday came and went, and another micro date has passed.  This week, I pulled out the board game Chutes and Ladders.  Yes I know so juvenile, but as you probably figured out from earlier posts, I can be pretty immature.  There was more to just playing the regular ole game.  I had quesitons to go wit h it.  Questions like: "Who was your favorite elementary school teacher."         Side note: Instead of having your spouse tell you the answer, GUESS IT!!      With each move we made, a question was presented, and we guessed the other's answer.  If I guessed correctly then I got a point and vice versa.  We like to call it a Chutes and Ladder's version of the Newly wed Game.  At the end of Chutes and Ladders whom ever has the most points wins a back rub!!       Side note: I had the most points, but Danny insisted...

Danny has school Thursday evenings, which has turned out to be beneficial to my micro date planning. I tend to do things last minute any how...I like to think my creative juices churn more effectively under pressure. So a couple of hours before a micro date, I whip something up. Last Thursday was a mini treasure hunt. I left heart clues with small tasks for Danny to perform. His last clue and task led Danny upstairs to me, where I laid out two corny challenges for both of us to perform: a laundry toss-aka seeing who can toss a dirty towel into the furthest laundry basket three times in a row-seriously it was actually quite the challenge. The second task was who could make the bed in the shortest time. Danny won both challenges....and received his award, spearmint gum, his favorite. Yes it is completely corny, but I figure why take yourself seriously, that's over rated anyway.

The longer I live in the Lehigh Valley, the more I become aware of the cool stuff we have here. For example, Dorney Park, The Rail Trails, and did you know we have a Planetarium in Bethlehem? It's owned by Lehigh University. Speaking of Lehigh University, have you heard of the Zoellber Arts Center? Neither did I till recently. We bought tickets to a couple of shows and my husband Danny and I were able to see one of the three shows we reserved. "The Flying Karamazov Brothers" is a bit deceiving by the name. I kind of expected to see trapeze artists or something, however I was not disappointed. Four men dressed in kilts and bowties walk around as a singing, comedic, juggling act. I laughed a lot more than I expected, and was entertained till the end. I wont give too much away just in case you'd like to go see them, but i will say if you do, bring something slimy and gross, and they will juggle it.
