Blue Ribbon Daddy

Image
We had a fun lil activity last week which involved reading this book.."Blue Ribbon Dad.". Afterwards we created our own blue ribbons for our Daddies. To top it off we made homemade cupcakes with buttercream frosting. I just couldn't wait till it all cooled off, so naturally it isn't a pretty sight. The kids had a good time decorating the cupcakes with sprinkles. It was a good time.

Father's Day and traveling

Image
Elly's workm of art Brinley's work of art Father's Day is this Sunday, but we celebrated early. We made a yummy dinner, had cinnamon rolls and gave homemade cards.  We celebrated early because.... I am soo excited.....I'm leaving on a jet plane, this Sunday.  My little sis I are heading out to Utah to see our other sister Katie.  I feel like such a lucky duck.  It has been two years since we have seen her in the flesh.  She gave birth to a little baby boy this past December, so I'm very excited to see the cutie.   And guess, what I will  be kid free!  I'll hardly know what to do with myself!  I am giddy with excitment.  The last time I was out in Salt Lake was 8 years ago....serving a mission.  I want to visit my old stomping grounds, like Park City, which is where I lived for ten out of the 18 months I served.  I want to check out Temple Square and well, any other sites that...

Mother's Day

Image
My Mother taught me well.  Her example was one of compassion, hospitality, and being a great neighbor.  Seriously, my parents are good neighbors.  They have been a wonderful example of how you should treat the people next door and across the street-and so it is because of them and for my mom that I try to be more kind and caring. In the spirit of neighborliness and honoring moms, let me share with you a tradition we have for Mother's Day.  Side note: Yes I am about to toot my own horn-I know so annoying right?  However please keep in mind that this is also a form of journaling for me. I mean it-I turn this baby into a book and bad bing, bada bang-scrapbooking, picture taking, journaling, complete.  My version of family history recorded-check! Okay so here goes.  Every day before Mothers Day-that would be a Saturday, the girls and I get busy shopping.  We don't spend tons of money-no-not in the budge...

Jerusalem Dinner

Image
I set the table in a huff.   Brinley was put in her crib temporarily due to her sneaky tornado-like ways-as in climbing the table we were about to eat on and messing the fancy midnight table cloth up.   Quickly I threw back on the table cloth over the girls mini play table.    Where was my phone?   I had come up with this lovely idea because of a cute blog post-and now I needed my phone for further instruction.   Frantically I zipped through the kitchen scanning the counters and open shelving-nothing-whirling about I did this very same thing in the bathroom, living room, play room and girl’s room-no sign of the phone. I threw my hands up and sighed angrily.   "Well I hope I don't forget anything". I flew through the cabinets pulling out bowls, a candle and glass holder. "Mommy" "Not now Elly." I said whirling by her.   Carefully the props were set upon the table and I ran to check on dinner: scallops (I didn't have fish), black se...

Easter Idea

Image
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter.  The Cooper family was busy this weekend attending church paricipating in an Easter egg hunt and watching the Ressurection story here: http://www.lds.org/bible-videos?lang=eng We are not yet finished celebrating the holiday because I saw this brillant idea: A Jerusalem dinner, the goal is to sit, eat and drink the way they did during Jesus' times.  We are also going to discuss Jeusus's Ministry, Death and Ressuresction over dinner.  Check out her site: the link is below http://secretsofasupermommy.blogspot.com/2010/03/five-fun-easter-activities-for-your.html Happy Monday!
