In Preschool today we:


Elly's Paper-notice how she uses one circle to cover both seeds.

Kelsey's Paper, I love seeing how different each child is in thier learning and actions.
-counted hearts to 19, then organized them by color.
-did some subtraction
-found the letter S on the wall and sounded it out.
-painted goody bags and added stickers to them
-traced letter S
-ate cake topped with fruit

School is in Session!

School is in session!    We started our preschool co op this week and I think it will be tons of fun! In addition to the co op I am homeschooling Elly. In Math we are learning shapes, number recognition, counting and addition. Phonics is number one on the list, as well as letter recognition. We do crafts and add bits of history and science.     Oh what a learning curve this is for me, but I have been LEARNING soo much...about my children, myself, teaching techniques, learning styles. I have been angry, nice, stressed, calm, overzealous, controlling, relaxed and eager. It's been a humbling experience, a day by day, minute by minute lesson for ME!! I personally have learned that I can not and should not control everything-I'm sure this will be an ongoing lesson to be learned. Family Reading

     Since I enjoyed reading "A Christmas Carol" with the family so much, I decided it was a tradtion I wanted to carry through out the year.  And so I have a list, a list that is ever growing. I have this goal to simplify my life from all unimportant things.  The goal is to replace those distractions with purpose, more family time, more husband time, more spiritual time.  And one of those BIG UGLY distractions is the TV.  I hate to admit it, but the hubby and I are TV addicts.  It's the very reason we don't have cable.  I would literally be watching HGTV or something raunchy like the "The Real Housewives of Something" 24/7, and what kind of mom would I be then??  Side note: I am exactly that kind of mom when I go to my inlaws who have a big flat screen and cable.         And so to force myself out of this addiction, I have come up with a pl...
